Red Route Clearway

In plain English

No stopping at any time — applies to carriageway, verge and footway.

What it means

A red route clearway prohibits stopping at all times and the prohibition extends to the verge and footway (unlike rural 24-hour clearways). There are no road markings — the signs alone are the legal restriction. Stopping is only permitted in marked lay-bys unless those also have signs prohibiting stopping.
